Applications of
ChromaDepthTM 3-D

The 1998 Webby Awards:
the Web's first 3-D Webcast!

Designed Images and Applications

Applications of ChromaDepthTM 3-D fall into two broad categories: designed images and found images. This website is full of designed images - images that were specifically created to be viewed in ChromaDepthTM 3-D. Found images are images that were not designed to be viewed with our C3DTM glasses, but which show interesting 3-D by the accidental placement of colors in the right places.

Current Products that Use Our C3DTM Glasses:

Crayola Products: Crayola, the crayon and marker company, has several products on the market which include ChromaDepthTM 3-D glasses. Their first 3-D marker kit was called 'Jumping Colors'. It is still available in some places, but it is being replaced by a new and even better 3-D marker kit called 'Color Overs' (see the Kids Gallery for some examples). Crayola has two other 3-D products 'Crayola Fun Case, Color by Number 3-D Art' and 'Crayola DiscoveryTM, 3-D Comic Book Maker'.

Godzilla Saves America, A Monster Showdown in 3-D: Published by Random House. This is the first commercial book designed in ChromaDepthTM 3-D; it is very well done. The art is sumptious and the story is pure Godzilla (and his rivals). Now available in bookstores. One pair of C3DTM glasses is included, so get some Kraft/Nickelodeon glasses so everyone can see the book in 3-D! By Marc Cerasini, illustrations by Tom Morgan & Paul Mounts. ISBN 0-679-88079-8.

Striderite Color Warp Sports Shoes for Kids: The shoes have a strip of wild colors and the box has a psychadelic patterns that look cool with the included C3DTM glasses. There's even a display in the stores that lets you see the shoes in 3-D before you buy them.

Hasbro Spirograph 3-D: Remember that Spirograph you had as a kid? Hasbro has added glasses and jazzed-up the kit to make it cool for kids. You can find it at toystores everywhere.

Tyco Big Draw: Tyco's Big Draw is a pantograph (a mechanical device for enlarging or reducing the size of an image) with tracing templates for kids to draw REALLY BIG pictures, then to color them for viewing with the enclosed C3DTM glasses.

MOVIES:

Anastasia, the animated movie. The whole movie appears to have been colored by animators wearing C3DTM glasses! This is one of the best movies to see for great, 'accidental', C3DTM effects!

Batman and Robin, the movie. Strong blue background lighting, strong red foreground lighting, and lots of leafy green poison ivy middleground make about 80 percent of this movie in spectacular C3DTM! Try to find it in a dollar theatre, or catch it when it comes out on video.

Pocahontas, the Disney animation (on video). The red skin tones of the characters and the deep blue and blue green of the forest make this a great C3DTM viewable movie! Around half or more of the movie is excellent in C3DTM.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame, the Disney animation (on video). Excellent use of color throughout the movie - almost as though they had designed it for C3DTM viewing (we do know that the animators had lots of our C3DTM glasses lying around...).

Star Trek, the Next Generation, on video. Only one part of the movie shows good 3-D, but it is quite good. Around the middle of the movie Picard and Data are tracking the 'temporal rift' in a computerized planetarium/map room on the Enterprise. The blue background, red uniforms, and skin tones make this 10 minute scene a great one in C3DTM!

Found Books:

Mrs. Spider's Tea Party: A modern illustrated classic that looks like it was designed in ChromaDepthTM 3-D. Amazing found C3DTM art and a cute storyline for kids.

Mrs. Spider's Wedding: The sequel to the above - just as good!

Just about any book of underwater coral reef color photography: the natural colors underwater often work perfectly with the C3DTM glasses. Also look at skin diving and scuba diving magazine.

Recent Promotions that Used Our C3DTMGlasses:

Kraft/Nickelodeon/Taco Bell/Blockbuster Video Promotion: Our largest promotion ever, with glasses provided with selected Kraft Food products, by mail-in offer, from Blockbuster Video, and from Bob Evans restaurants! The big finale to this promotion was a week of C3DTM children's TV on The Nickelodeon Children's Network (cable TV) during the week of September 22nd . Each night Nickelodeon aired a show specifically designed to be seen in NoggleVisionTM 3-D, their name for our C3DTM glasses. The 3-D shows included Alex Mack, The Mystery Files of Shelby Wu, Rugrats, Kablaam, and Hey Arnold!

The NoggleVision
TM 3-D glasses were packaged in specially marked boxes of Post Waffle Crisp, Post Golden Crisp, and Post Honey-Comb cereals. The back of these boxes featured a great Alex Mack themed C3DTM maze.

In addition, NoggleVision
TM 3-D glasses were actually built into the box for some varieties of Oscar Mayer Lunchables and Kraft Macaroni & Cheese. Some boxes of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese, Tombstone Pizza, Kool-Aid Blasters, and Taco Bell grocery products had a mail-in offer for the NoggleVisionTM 3-D glasses, a poster, and a back-to-school kit.
