This is the application of the ChromaDepthTM
3-D coloring algorithm (a set of lookup functions for red, green, and
blue) to create a lookup table of 101 colors with relatively even spacing
from foreground to background. Note that this color model assumes that
the background is black or very dark blue. This is the 'Red-Green-Blue
on Black' (RGB on Black) color space for ChromaDepthTM
3-D using the primary additive colors (red, green and blue). Other
color spaces are possible.
Click on the graphic link above to display the 101 color pallette. The
number associated with each color is also equivalent to the percentage
depth position. Zero percent depth is the closest point of foreground,
and is full red (the color chart does not show the full red zero depth).
One hundred percent depth is the farthest point of of the background, and
is full blue. Twenty-five percent depth would be a distance into the depth
space halfway between foreground and middleground.
Highlight colors, as for reflective highlights from shiny surfaces, for
any particular color should be chosen to be the color that is five steps
lower than the color in question. Thus if a highlight is needed for a color
number 25 [253,102,0] use the color 20 [255,78,0] for the highlight color.
